It always delights me that when a group of people get together to draw the same model we all
come up with very different work. It's been said that all art is autobiographical and if
you know how to read the work you can tell a great deal about the artist. Quiet sensitive people tend to create quiet sensitive drawings, bolder personalities have work that is an accurate reflection of who they are.
Some people work slowly and thoughtfully whilst others work fast and intuitively. Making art is not really very different from life we all have varying approaches, we all have joy and struggle in the process. Some people find more joy even though they may be producing something they are not particularly thrilled with. Others seem to to take it all very seriously. The other thing I love about the drawing group is that there's room for everybody, any style any level and they are welcoming of anybody that wants to draw. No competition just a group of people who are exploring their own potential.
It's lovely to think of each of our lives as a work of art, we are all trying to see what we are capable of and we're all learning off each other. Perhaps the secret to drawing and life is the same, just enjoy the journey and not to worry about too much more than what you are doing in the present moment.
One other thing when it's all over perhaps all that matters is how much fun did you have?
